Road work to fully close portion of Waimea Canyon Drive daily beginning Monday

A daily full closure on a portion of Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) will begin on Monday, Jan. 5.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation will fully close Waimea Canyon Drive between Panini Place and Kōkeʻe Road for pavement reconstruction and resurfacing.

The daily closures will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday, Jan. 5, through Friday, Feb. 27. Traffic needing to access Kōkeʻe State Park will be detoured to Kōkeʻe Road; local traffic will be allowed.

Variable message boards have been posted to alert road users. To view scheduled Kauaʻi lane closures for the week, visit the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation website.
