Flood advisory issued for entire island of Kauaʻi as heavy rainfall moves onshore

National Weather Service radar indicated at 8:57 p.m. that rain was moving onshore of Kauaʻi from the west and south, falling at a rate of up to 1 inch an hour — some embedded heavier showers could produce rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour.
That rain is expected to spread across the island, causing National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu to issue a flood advisory for the entire island in effect until midnight.
Minor flooding on roads and in poor drainage areas and streams is possible because of excessive rainfall.
The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
