Kauaʻi firefighters respond to a brush fire in Kōloa
Kauaʻi Fire Department firefighters are responding to a brush fire estimated to be about 100 feet by 50 feet in Kōloa.
The fire was reported at 2:15 p.m., and crews from the Kōloa and Kalāheo fire stations, Tender 5, Tender 3, the on-duty battalion chief, and crews from the Department of Public Works are responding to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, crews are working to extinguish the brush fire and have it under control. However, heavy smoke continues as it is a deep-seated green waste pile on fire.
No injuries or damaged structures have been reported at this time. The Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident.
There are no road closures in effect at this time.
