Moderate swells trigger high surf advisory for north, west shores of Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau
A moderate, long-period northwest swell will produce elevated surf along select north- and west-facing shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau through Wednesday. Another moderate, long-period north-northwest swell is then expected to fill in Wednesday night, keeping surf elevated through Thursday afternoon.

The incoming swells triggered National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu to issue a high surf advisory until 6 p.m. Thursday for those shores.
Surf will build to 12 to 16 feet along northern shorelines, with 8 to 12 feet forecast along western shorelines.
Impacts could be moderate, plus strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
The public is advised to heed all advice from ocean safety officials. Remember: When in doubt, don’t go out.
Surf along north- and west-facing shores is expected to gradually lower beginning Thursday night.
