Support for home gardeners: University of Hawaiʻi seeks input to shape new programs

Home gardens are a popular way for Hawaiʻi families to cope with the rising cost of living and boost food security.

University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience invites the community to take a home gardening survey to help develop essential support programs.

Researchers are looking to document everything from the types of crops grown by Hawaiʻi’s home gardeners and their water usage to educational resources and support for those growing their own food.

All Hawaiʻi home gardeners, people interested in starting a garden as well as non-gardeners are encouraged to participate.

The survey — open through the end of 2025 — takes less than 20 minutes to finish and is completely anonymous.
