The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is inviting residents to help update the county’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation and Resilience Plan, a five-year strategy aimed at reducing risks from natural disasters and strengthening community preparedness.

The agency will host an in-person public meeting on Dec. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Planning Commission Conference Room in the Mo‘ikeha Building in Līhuʻe.

Attendees will learn about the planning process, review key components of the 2026 plan update, and provide feedback to guide future hazard mitigation and resilience priorities.

The plan focuses on strategies to reduce loss of life and property from disasters such as wildfires, severe storms, tsunamis and landslides, while improving the ability of individuals, communities, institutions and systems to adapt and thrive in the face of these challenges.

Officials with the Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency said public participation is a critical part of the process and encouraged residents to share their experiences and suggestions through an online survey available on the agency’s website.
