Visiting Big Save in Kōloa or ʻEleʻele and Sueoka Market during this time of year, a familiar holiday sound resonates through the air and offers a warm aloha to customers as they enter and exit the store.

It usually does a great job drawing you in, but if the tintinnabulation tugging at your heart strings isn’t enough to convince you, seeing the hanging red receptacle almost always does the job.

Giving to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is one thing though.

Becoming part of the tradition as one of the people who rings the bell means something different. You make a bigger impact in the community and an all new holiday tradition at the same time.

The Corps kicked off its 2025 Red Kettle campaign with a special fundraiser sunset cruise Nov. 8 — aptly named a Cruise for a Cause.

All proceeds from the event, including ticket sales, directly benefited the vital local programs and services provided all year by the Hanapēpē Corps.

Those who attended were treated to an amazing private cruise along Kaua‘i’s breathtaking Nā Pali Coast given through a generous sponsorship from Capt. Andy’s, while they enjoyed a chef-prepared dinner, music and a silent auction.
