ʻŌlelo to broadcast, stream Office of Hawaiian Affairs committee, board meetings
ʻŌlelo Community Media, more commonly referred to as ‘Ōlelo, announces a new 5-year partnership with Office of Hawaiian Affairs to broadcast and stream its committee and board meetings.

“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in [Office of Hawaiian Affairs’] efforts to serve and support Native Hawaiians by expanding access to our decision-making processes, while also providing better connectivity between [Office of Hawaiian Affairs] and the Native Hawaiian communities we are dedicated to serve,” said Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees Chairman Kaialiʻi “Kai” Kahele in the announcement.
Kahele added that the new collaboration also aligns with Office of Hawaiian Affairs initiatives such as its recently announced emergency relief program for Native Hawaiian families affected by the federal government shutdown, “along with other efforts that reflect our continued commitment to the well-being of our communities.”
Broadcast and streaming of meetings conducted elsewhere throughout the islands — not just from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs boardroom on O‘ahu — also will be allowed, such as recent sessions at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo’s College of Hawaiian Language.
“At ʻŌlelo, we believe open communication and civic engagement are the foundations of a thriving community,” said ʻŌlelo President and Chief Executive Officer Roger McKeague in the announcement. “By supporting [Office of Hawaiian Affairs’] work, we help ensure that important conversations and decisions affecting Native Hawaiians are shared widely, openly and without filters.”
ʻŌlelo and Office of Hawaiian Affairs reaffirm through this partnership their shared commitment to transparency, civic engagement and ensuring the public has meaningful access to governance and initiatives designed to uplift Native Hawaiians and strengthen Hawai‘i’s communities.
