Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising no swimming or other ocean activities at Hanalei Bay due to the sighting of a 10-foot tiger shark.

The shark was seen at approximately 11:30 a.m., with no injuries reported, according to the ocean safety bureau.

As a safety precaution, warning signs have been posted at the bay and ocean safety personnel will continue to monitor the area.

Lifeguards will reassess the area later this evening. If there are no other sightings, the beach will reopen to ocean activities on Wednesday. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
