Kaua‘i County Housing to close Section 8 voucher waiting list until further notice
Kaua‘i County Housing Agency notifies the public that it will close its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program online waiting list as of 11:59 p.m. Nov. 6, until further notice.
New applications will no longer be accepted after this date; however, the closure does not affect those active on the waitlist or those who submit applications prior to the closing deadline.

Applications received before the closure will continue to be processed according to the county Housing Agency’s approved policies and procedures.
All applicants on the waitlist, as well as those accepted prior to the closing date, must maintain valid contact information in their WaitlistCheck.com account to ensure they receive time-sensitive communications when their names are selected.
County housing officials will continue to evaluate federal funding levels and program needs and provide public notice once the waiting list is ready to reopen.
The temporary closure reflects the program’s current capacity and availability of federal resources that support local housing assistance.
The agency remains committed to assisting eligible families and ensuring limited program resources are used effectively to support existing participants.
Kaua‘i County Housing Agency serves as the county’s public housing authority, administering the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s federally funded Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program locally.
The program assists low-income families, people with disabilities and the elderly to afford housing in the private market through rental subsidies paid directly to participating landlords.
Visit the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency website for more information about the agency and updates regarding the Section 8 voucher program and waiting list.
