Kaua‘i County gears up for Rice Street Block Party

Get ready for the Rice Street Block Party.

The family-focused event is scheduled for Saturday fro 4 to 8 p.m. To accommodate the block party, Rice Street (between Umi Street and Kalena Street) will be closed from 2 to 10 p.m., according to a Kaua‘i County news release.

Kress Street will also be closed (between Rice Street and Halenani Street). Umi, Hardy, and Kalena Streets will remain open during the event.

The block party will feature various entertainment along Rice Street, including a keiki zone with a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i, live music, local vendors and more. There will also be a kickball tournament at Līhu‘e County Park as a fundraiser for the KCC Veterans Services center.

Due to the number of concurrent events throughout the day, parking has been secured at the Wilcox Elementary School Parking Lot, the Līhu‘e Civic Center, and lastly at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.

During the road closure, Route 70 Līhu‘e Shuttle will not service stops along Rice Street, and riders are directed to utilize the bus stops on Eiwa Street.
