Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Moloa‘a
Kaua‘i firefighters extinguished a structure fire the morning of Oct. 13 in Moloa‘a. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 10:45 a.m. to a report of a structure fire behind the community’s fruit stands.
Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Keālia, Princeville, and Līhu‘e fire stations as well as Fire Prevention Bureau, along with the on-duty battalion chief, responded to the incident, arriving just before 11 a.m. to discover a single residence in flames
First responders successfully extinguished the fire using a water tender because of a lack of fire hydrants in the surrounding area.
Kaua‘i Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau investigators then took over the scene to investigate. Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 12:50 p.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $105,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
