Join state government ‘ohana; explore career opportunities through Operation Hire Hawai‘i
Hawai’i Gov. Josh Green and Hawai‘i Department of Human Resources Development urge executive branch departments to expand use of Operation Hire Hawai‘i to help fill critical state government vacancies.
Especially now as the federal government shutdown continues.

Operation Hire Hawai‘i is a targeted outreach initiative designed to streamline the state hiring process and fast-track qualified candidates into public service roles throughout the state. It was launched in February by Green’s executive order.
“Operation Hire Hawai‘i is an investment in our people and our future,” said Green in a state release.
More than 160 individuals have been hired through the program since its inception 8 months ago.
The state recognizes the potential long-term financial and economic impacts on communities as the ongoing federal government shutdown creates uncertainty for many Hawai‘i residents. Those impacted by the shutdown are encouraged to explore career opportunities within state government.
“As federal uncertainty creates stress for families, we are opening doors to stable careers in public service at the state level,” the governor said. “Every new hire strengthens our ability to deliver for Hawai‘i — and I encourage anyone ready to serve to step forward. Your skills and your aloha are needed now more than ever.”
State Department of Human Resources Development Director Brenna Hashimoto said her agency is committed to working closely with state agencies to ensure those looking to join the state government ‘ohana can do so quickly.
“We currently have 40 job postings available under [Operation Hire Hawai‘i] and are encouraging all departments to open additional recruitments under this initiative as soon as possible,” said Hashimoto in the state release.
