State to public: Don’t eat select lots of Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini; they could be contaminated with listeria
Hawai‘i Department of Health Food and Drug Branch alerts the public about a recall issued by Demers Food Group for select lots of Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini because of the possibility of them being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The product contains a linguini pasta ingredient that was recalled for Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious and sometimes fatal infection as a result from eating Listeria-contaminated food.
Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini was distributed nationwide, including supermarkets such as Safeway in Hawai‘i. Food and Drug Branch officials are working with these stores to ensure the product is no longer available for sale.
This recall applies only to the select Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini products identified as follows:

Listeriosis primarily affects pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and others with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
Healthy people could suffer symptoms such as fever, severe headache, muscle aches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and/or diarrhea.
Although people can develop listeriosis up to 2 months after eating contaminated food, symptoms will usually start within several days from consumption, often with diarrhea.
Listeriosis can be treated with antibiotics.
Contact your health care provider immediately if you are showing symptoms after having consumed any of the Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini products listed above.
There have been no reports of illness or adverse events attributed to the product.
Food and Drug Branch officials advise consumers to verify the recalled product by checking the lot numbers listed above and best-if-used-by date.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends returning affected items to your local store for a refund. If the product was opened, safely seal it in a sealable plastic bag and throw it away.
Wash your hands thoroughly and sanitize any areas that might have come in contact with the product.
