Kaua‘i Humane Society welcomes new chief executive officer into the pack
Kaua‘i Humane Society announces the appointment of Susan Rhee as its new chief executive officer.
“I am honored to join Kaua‘i Humane Society and work alongside such a dedicated team,” said Rhee in a society announcement about her hire. “This organization has a remarkable history of animal welfare, and I look forward to working with the board, staff and community partners to build on that legacy and guide us into an exciting future.”

Rhee joins Kaua‘i Humane Society from O‘ahu, bringing nearly 2 decades of experience in the animal welfare movement. She has had leadership roles in animal conservation, fundraising and nonprofit management.
She most recently worked in public policy, advancing animal cruelty legislation in Hawai‘i.
“We are especially pleased to have an experienced animal welfare professional join and lead our team of dedicated employees at [Kaua‘i Humane Society],” said Kaua‘i Humane Society Board President Dan Giovanni in the society’s announcement.
Rhee’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the organization as it continues to serve Kaua‘i’s animals and community by fostering compassion, responsibility and lasting bonds between pets and people.
Nonprofit Kaua‘i Humane Society is the only open-intake animal shelter on Kaua‘i, striving to maintain a no-kill status.
