“This event is a valuable opportunity to bring our partners and community together to focus on preventing both home fires and dangerous wildfires,” said Kaua‘i Fire Department Chief Michael Gibson in an announcement for the kick-off event. “In addition to our community risk reduction programs, we want to share our public education curriculum with families to encourage important fire prevention conversations that start at home.”

Informational booths provided by Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency, Kaua‘i Police Department, Firewise Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife and other parter agencies will be available.

There also will be fire extinguisher training, hands-on cardiopulmonary resuscitation demonstrations, personal wildland fire education and information about the fall prevention program for kūpuna.

Plus fire trucks, picture-taking with Sparky, games, prizes and more will be part of the fun, too.
