Kaua’i set to kick-off Fire Prevention Week with interactive, educational opportunities
Fire extinguisher training, hands-on CPR demonstrations, and fire truck tours will all be part of the kickoff event for the 2025 Fire Prevention Week next Saturday.
The Kauaʻi Fire Department is hosting the kickoff event at the Kauaʻi Philippine Cultural Center to start the 2025 Fire Prevention Week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.
“This event is a valuable opportunity to bring our partners and community together to focus on preventing both home fires and dangerous wildfires,” said Kauaʻi Fire Department Chief Michael Gibson. “In addition to our community risk reduction programs, we want to share our public education curriculum with families to encourage important fire prevention conversations that start at home.”
Representatives from the Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency, Kauaʻi Police Department, Firewise Hawaiʻi, the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife, and other partner agencies will present informational booths covering subjects such as wildland fires and a fall prevention program for kūpuna.
The kickoff will be a free, family event with games, prizes, and photos with Sparky, a firefighting mascot, to start the 2025 Fire Prevention Week.
