Planning Department holding final public workshop for East Kauaʻi long-range initiative
The East Kaua‘i Community and Circulation Plan, a long-range planning initiative conducted by the county Planning Department, addresses land use, transportation, infrastructure, housing and more.
The plan also emphasizes community priorities, including climate hazard resilience and the protection of cultural and historic resources.
On Sept. 16, the Planning Department will hold the final of a series of public workshops about the plan, part of the department’s ongoing public engagement program.
“This planning process is about listening and learning together,” Planning Director Ka‘āina Hull said is a press release. “We encourage all East Kaua‘i residents to be part of the conversation.”
Parks, Recreation and Economic Development is the focus of the final workshop.
The workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m on Tuesday at the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital Auditorium, 4800 Kawaihau Rd in Kapa‘a. Dinner will be provided.
There will be interactive opportunities for community feedback. For those unable to attend in person, workshop materials also will be made available online.
This workshop series builds upon previous community engagement efforts, including a public open house and survey conducted in the summer of 2024 and a multi-day design workshop held in October 2024.
