UPDATE: High surf warning canceled for east-facing shorelines of Kauaʻi
Update, 6 a.m. Sept. 10: The high surf warning for east-facing shores of Kaua’i has been canceled.
Swells from Tropical Cyclone Kiko continue to diminish across all waters, according to a press release from the National Weather Service.
The warning was also rescinded for all east-facing shores of O’ahu, Maui, and Molokai.
Original Post: A high surf warning for east-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau will begin at 6 a.m. tomorrow.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Kiko is expected to weaken to a Tropical Storm and will bring a rapid rise in surf along east-facing shores on Tuesday.
Surf heights along these shores are projected to reach 10 to 15 feet. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents.
Entering the water in these areas during the high surf warning is hazardous and could cause serious injury or death. Beachgoers are also advised to use caution, as large breaking waves could make it dangerous for those standing along the shoreline.
The warning is issued for 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, but it may be extended, dropped, or modified as conditions develop.
