Water service shutdown scheduled for portions of Kalāheo

Kaua‘i County Department of Water notifies the public that water service will be temporarily shut down Aug. 28 in several areas of Kalāheo.

Affected areas include:

  • Poʻohiwi Road.
  • Mahiʻai Street.
  • Keoki Place.
  • ‘Ohana ‘Āina Place.
  • Upper portion of Puʻuwai Road (including branching roads).
  • Upper portion of Lae Road.

The shutdown is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so crews can replace a pressure releasing valve, weather permitting.

Customers can also expect an intermittent series of high- and low-pressure in some areas during the shutdown.

Those located in the affected area are advised to prepare by taking these steps:

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service is restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants and neighbors.
  • Make sure any faulty water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.

Updates will be posted on the Kaua‘i County Department of Water website.
