Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for Aug. 23-29

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of Aug. 23-29.

HIGHWAY 50

PUA LOKE TO PUHI

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE in the eastbound direction between mile posts 0.5 and 1.8, in the vicinity of Uahi Road and Kikowaena Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for restriping of crosswalks.

KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and ʻŌmaʻo Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 24-29 for striping.

KŌLOA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Puuana Road and Maluhia Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 24-29 for soil boring in preparation for the Kaumualiʻi Highway widening.

LĀWAʻI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE of the left- and right-turn pocket lanes at the highway’s intersection with Kōloa Road from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 25-29 for restriping of the lane markings.

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

  • ROVING RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 12.2 and 15.4, in the vicinity of Halewili Road and Mahea Road, from 8:30 a.m. ot 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for cutting grass.

WAIMEA TO KEKAHA

  • SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.3 and 24.3, in the vicinity of Royal Coconut Grove Road and Kīkīaola Harbor, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 23 and 25-29 for cutting grass and ditch cleaning.

HIGHWAY 51

LĪHU‘E

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 1.6 and 1.9, in the vicinity of Kāʻana Street and Ahukini Road, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through Aug. 29 for sewer line installation.

HIGHWAYS 56/560

WAILUĀ

  • SINGLE RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 3.6 and 3.8, in the vicinity of Marine Camp Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. Aug. 29 for installation of raised pavement markers.
  • TWO LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.6 and 5.9, in the vicinity of Wailuā Bridge, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 24-29 for bridge repair. There will be one lane of traffic open in both directions on the makai Plantation Bridge.
  • TWO LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.6 and 5.9, in the vicinity of the mauka Wailuā Bridge, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29 for bridge repair. There will be one lane of traffic open in both directions on the makai Plantation Bridge.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.8 and 6.5, in the vicinity of Coconut Marketplace and Wailuā Beach, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. Aug. 25 and 27 for landscape maintenance.

KAPAʻA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia Road and St. Catherine’s Cemetery, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 24-29 for striping and marking installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KĪLAUEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 22 and 24.5, in the vicinity of Kaluamakua Place and Kāhiliholo Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for grass cutting.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.2 and 23.6, in the vicinity of Kolo Road and Kalamania Road, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 27-29 for paving of the roundabout.

KALIHIWAI TO PRINCEVILLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1, in the vicinity of Kāhiliholo Road to Emmalani Drive, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 24-29 for rumble strip installation and striping.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2 in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for drain line work.
  • ALTERNATING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE BUILDING TO FULL CLOSURE, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Aug. 25-29 for asphalt reconstruction. The full closure is from 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly. Details: Click here.

HANALEI

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the Hāʻena-bound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3 (Tahiti Nui and ʻAnae Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 25-29for paving, concrete work and guardrail installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

WAIKOKO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. NUMILA

  • RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.5 and 3.5, in the vicinity of McBride New Mill Road and Ailuna Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for fire break maintenance and cutting grass.

HIGHWAY 550

KŌKE‘E

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25-29 for shoulder reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 583

WAILUĀ FALLS

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1.5 and 3, from the midpoint of the road to the end of the road, from 4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 23 for grass cutting.

HIGHWAY 5600

KAPAʻA

  • ROVING SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction for the entire stretch of the road from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25-26 for grass cutting.
