Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative last week launched a redesigned website that already is out-SHiNE-ing the utility cooperative’s previous site — complete with updated security, new design features and more created with member convenience in mind.

“This redesign offers improved cybersecurity protections and accessibility for our members, and will continue to hold the same information as our previous website,” said Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative Member Services and Communications Manager Beth Amaro in the utility’s announcement about the site’s fresh look. “Members will still be able to access our outage center and map, online payment, forms and important documents about our cooperative.”

The redesign was supported by Touchstone Energy, which provides the SHiNE web platform (https://www.shine.coop/) — and included services — to hundreds of electric cooperatives throughout the United States.

“As one of more than 900 electric cooperatives across the country, [Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative] can take advantage of that collective purchasing power and access services such as website design at a very reasonable cost,” Amaro added.

A new feature is an online form organizations can use to request Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative presentations or field trips to the utility’s facilities.

Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative’s outreach efforts in 2024 included more than 14 in-person school events around Kauaʻi.

A link for submitting requests can be found on the utility website’s home page.
