Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 6:40 p.m. Aug. 18 to a report of a structure fire at a property on Kōloa Road.

Personnel with the Kalāheo and Kōloa fire stations as well as the on-duty battalion chief responded.

A preliminary Kaua‘i Fire Department report says firefighters — upon their arrival about 5 minutes after receiving the call — discovered thick smoke coming from a shed. Bystanders had quickly extinguished the fire with fire extinguishers.
