Emergency road closure extended for tree removal on part of Akemāmā Road in Lāwaʻi
Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works and The Cutting-Edge Land Clearing Solutions have extended an emergency full road closure for a portion of Akemāmā Road in Lāwaʻi.

The closure will now continue from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 14, weather permitting, for additional work to remove hazardous trees hanging above the roadway ane ensure the public’s safety.
Contractor The Cutting-Edge Land Clearing Solutions identified a second hazardous branch in the vicinity, requiring additional time for its removal and subsequently the road to be closed.
“Mahalo for your patience,” Public Works said to community members in its extension notice.
Motorists should continue to make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary closure and allow for extra time to get to destinations if they must travel through the area.
No parking will be allowed in the work zone. Flaggers also will be present to direct traffic.
