No injuries reported after laundry room fire at resort on Kaua‘i
No injuries were reported after a fire broke out in the laundry room at the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort.
Kaua‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze on Tuesday in Nawiliwili shortly before 10:45 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke coming from the structure’s laundry room, according to a preliminary report from the fire department. First responders successfully extinguished the flames.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $150,000.
Personnel with the Līhu‘e, Kalāheo, and Kapa‘a fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 12:15 p.m.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
