Damaged Main Line Prompts Emergency Water Service Shutdown on Kuamo’o Road

An emergency water service shutdown will take place for a portion of Kuamo’o Road in order to conduct repairs on a damaged main line.

The shutdown, which starts at 10 a.m., will impact Kuamo’o Road between between Opaeka’a Road and Pa’ako Street, and includes: Lihau Street, Kuhoho Street, Aleo Street, Pa’ako Street, Iliki Street, Hie Street, Molo Street and Alahele Street in Wailua. The service will be turned back on at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to the Department of Water (DOW).

A partial one-lane road closure with flagger personnel will be in place near the intersection of Opaeka’a Road and Kuamo’o Road.

Customers located in the affected service area are advised to prepare for the shutdown by taking the following steps:

·Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
·Notify neighbors, family and friends about the shutdown.
·Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that their water heaters do not empty.
·Businesses should prepare accordingly for the service shutdown.
