No injuries reported after structure fire at Kalāheo residence
No injuries were reported after a structure fire in Kalāheo.
Kaua‘i Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Kalāheo on Aug. 3 shortly after 2 a.m.
According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 2:05 a.m., firefighters discovered smoke coming from a residence. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the first floor of the structure.
Personnel with the Kalāheo, Hanapēpē, and Līhu‘e fire stations, the Fire Prevention Bureau, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.
KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly at 4:40 a.m.
Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $250,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
