Kauaʻi firefighters stamped out two fires in Anahola over the weekend

The Kaua‘i Fire Department knocked down an estimated 3-acre brush fire in Anahola on Sunday afternoon.

Located between Hōkūʻalele Road and Kūhiō Highway, the fire was reported at 1:45 p.m. and was put out by 4:40 p.m. No injuries or damaged structures have been reported at this time. 

Crews from the Kapaʻa and Kaiākea fire stations, Rescue 3, Aircraft Rescue Firefighters, Tanker 1, Air 1, Air 2, and the on-duty battalion chief are responding to this incident.

The fire came after another 2-acre blaze that was controlled by firefighters near Kalalea View Drive on Saturday night.

As of this afternoon, the red flag warning on all islands was canceled due to increased humidity and slower wind speeds, the National Weather Service.
