2-acre brush fire ignites near Kalalea View Drive in Anahola
Kaua‘i firefighters responded Sunday night to a 2-acre brush fire near Kalalea View Drive in Anahola.
The blaze was reported at 8:30 p.m., and crews had it controlled before 11 p.m.
No injuries or damages to structures were reported as of Kaua‘i Fire Department’s last update late Satruday night.
A preliminary report says firefighters from the Kapa‘a and Kaiākea fire stations along with Rescue 3, Tender 3 and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Services defended nearby homes from the fire in a valley by the shoreline with a thick tree line.
The on-duty battalion chief also responded to the fire.
Crews with Kaua‘i County Department of Public Works were on standby, and Kaua‘i Emergency Management continually monitored the incident.
Although firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, substantial winds in the area persisted. First responders continued to monitor hot spots as of 11 p.m. Saturday.
Fortunately, there were no road closures necessary.
