Café in Kapa‘a damaged in early morning fire

No injuries were reported after a structure fire in Kapa‘a early this morning.

According to a Kaua‘i County press release, Kaua‘i Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at Olympic Café on Kūhiō Highway shortly after 3:45 a.m.

According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly after 3:50 a.m., firefighters with the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea, and Līhu‘e fire stations discovered a building on fire. First responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated on the second floor of the structure.

KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 5:45 a.m.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $369,000.

The cause of the fire is accidental.
