County: All residential trash not collected earlier this week to be picked up this morning
Kauaʻi County Solid Waste Division notifies residents islandwide that all trash that has not been previously collected this week will be picked up by 11 a.m. today.
Contact Solid Waste by calling 808-241-4841 if your rubbish has not been collected by then.
“Mahalo for your patience and understanding during this time,” the division reiterated in its notification.

The announcement follows several days of staffing issues, causing collection services to first be delayed and eventually escalated to not being collected at all — leaving trash piling up at homes in several communities.
It grew even larger July 24, when it seemed most of the island was told none of its trash would be taken away, as the ongoing staffing issues caused collection services to be nixed in Kekaha, Waimea, Hanapēpē, ʻEleʻele, Hanalei, Wainiha, Hā‘ena, Kapaʻa and Kalāheo.
Many of those communities also had not had their trash collected or sparsely collected since the beginning of the week because of the staffing issues.
Solid Waste did offer a light at the end of the tunnel throughout the week, however, as the staffing issue lingered.
Officials assured residents that the trash would likely be collected by July 25 or 26 at the latest.
They even encouraged them to leave their bins out each day, just in case crews could make it to grab the rubbish before those estimated pickup dates.
