Early morning weekend blaze forces 4 people, 1 dog from Anahola home
An early morning weekend fire forced four people and their dog from their Anahola home, with one of the home’s occupants transported to receive treatment for smoke inhalation.

Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters were dispatched just after 3:45 a.m. July 13 to a structure fire on Manamana Road.
Personnel with the Kapa‘a, Kaiākea and Līhu‘e fire stations; Kaua‘i Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau; on-duty battalion chief and Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative responded.
Firefighters reported they discovered the home on fire as they arrived just before 4 a.m.
Kaua‘i Island Utility Co-op shut off the home’s power, and first responders successfully extinguished the blaze, which was determined to have originated on the home’s first floor.
Fire Prevention Bureau investigators then took over to investigate. Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 6:15 a.m.
Two structures on the property were involved in the fire, one of which was a total loss.
Damages — including contents of both structures — were estimated at $303,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
