Kaua‘i County invites high school students to serve on boards, commissions
Kaua‘i high school students are invited to help shape the island’s future by volunteering to serve on Kaua‘i County boards and commissions.
Kaua‘i County Office of Boards and Commissions encourages students who will be high school juniors or seniors as of Aug. 4 to apply online if they are interested in serving.

Kaua‘i voters approved a Kaua‘i County Charter amendment in 2024 that allows junior and senior high school students to become members of county boards and commissions, creating new opportunities for youth involvement in local government.
Boards and commissions are composed of community leaders and residents committed to making a difference.
They serve as a bridge between the public and county government, allowing members to share ideas and participate in decisions that impact Kaua‘i.
Each board and commission also has unique responsibilities.
The county Office of Boards and Commissions provides support to 17 boards and commissions:
- Arborist Advisory Committee.
