Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi launches scholarship program for resort employees and ʻohana
Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Resort & Spa, located on 50 oceanfront acres overlooking Keoneloa Bay on Kauaʻi’s South Shore near Poʻipū, cares for people so they can be their best. The luxury resort is also invested in its employees and supports their professional — and educational — development.

To show that level of commitment and care, the Grand Hyatt launched a scholarship program to assist and bolster the continuing education of its team members and their ʻohana.
The resort awarded $3,500 scholarships to 14 employees and their children this year to help with their pursuits of academic and professional goals.
“This scholarship program reflects our culture of care, learning and advancement for our team, and we’re honored to help empower our hotel ʻohana as they take the next step in their educational journeys,” said Grand Hyatt Kauaʻi Resort & Spa General Manager Michael Murphy in an announcement about the scholarship program and awards.
Scholarships support a broad range of educational pursuits, including trade schools, community colleges and 4-year universities throughout the United States.
There are many programs for which recipients will use their scholarships, representing a variety of fields and studies such as:
- Aesthetics and nail care at Honolulu Nails & Aesthetics Academy.
- Nursing and culinary arts at Kauaʻi Community College.
- Pre-medical imaging technology at Oregon Institute of Technology.
- Combination welding at Maysville Community and Technical College in Maysville, Ky.
- Environmental studies at Colorado College.
Scholarship funds are raised through a series of events hosted annually by the resort including a Colleague Golf Tournament and The Great Ball Drop, as well as an annual bon dance sponsored by Hyatt’s Asia Pacific Islander Colleague Chapter, banana bread sales and Valentine’s Day flower sales, among other internal initiatives.
