Household hazardous waste — which includes batteries, gasoline, cleaners, oil-based paints and other items — can be brought to the county’s semi-annual household hazardous waste collection events.

Electronics can be recycled from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Puhi Metals Recycling facility in the Puhi Industrial Park in Līhuʻe.

Household batteries — including alkaline, nickle cadmium and lithium ion that weigh less than 2 pounds — can be brought from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to Kaua‘i Resource Center, located at 3460 Ahukini Road, in Līhu‘e.

Improperly disposed of combustible or hazardous materials can cause fires or other damage resulting in injury to county staff and equipment, potentially interrupting services or shutting down a facility.

Visit Kaua‘i County’s household hazardous waste web page and eWaste web page for additional information about the next household hazardous waste collection event — including times, locations and dates — as well as the items you can bring.

Call 808-241-4841 or visit the county’s recycling web page if you need help with or more information about disposing of or recycling rubbish.
