Scheduled Kaua‘i lane closures on state roadways for June 28-July 4
Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Garden Isle during the week of June 28-July 4.
NOTE: In observcance of 4th of July, there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 50)
KĪPŪ TO ʻŌMAʻO
- ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 2.9 and 8.7, in the vicinity of Kīpū Road and ʻŌmaʻo Road, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 29-July 3 for striping.
ʻŌMAʻO
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 8.5, in the vicinity of Maha Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 30-July 3 for tree trimming.
LĀWAʻI TO KALĀHEO
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10 and 11, in the vicinity of Akemama Road and Lauoho Road, from midnight to 6 a.m. July 2 for cutting grass and guardrail clearing.
KAUMAKANI TO WAIMEA
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 19 to 22, in the vicinity of Kaumakani Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 30-July 3 for clearing vegetation.
KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (HIGHWAYS 56/560)
WAILUA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the southbound direction between mile posts 5.8 and 5.9, in the vicinity of Kuamoʻo Road, from 1 to 6:30 a.m. June 30-July 3 for cleaning curb and guardrail.
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Papaloa Road to Lanikai Street, from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. June 29-July 3 for construction along the highway.
KAPAʻA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 9.5, in the vicinity of ʻAkia Road to Keālia, 5 a.m. June 29-July 4 for resurfacing, concrete and electrical work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
ANAHOLA
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 14 and 14.5 between ʻAliomanu Road and Hōkūalele Road from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 30-July 1 for cutting grass.
PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.3 and 1.2 between Hanalei Plantation Road and ʻŌhiki Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 30-July 3 for pipe and gutter installation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
HANALEI
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the Hāʻena-bound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3 between the Hanalei Post Office and ʻAnae Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 30-July 3 for concrete work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the Hāʻena-bound direction between mile posts 2.7 and 3.3 between the Hanalei Post Office and ʻAnae Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 30-July 3 for pavement reconstruction. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
WAIKOKO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.3 and 4.5, in the vicinity of Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for slope stabilization of Waikoko Hillside. LUMAHAʻI
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 4.5 and 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 2-3 for cutting grass.
WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (HIGHWAY 550)
KŌKE‘E
- RIGHT LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction between mile posts 4.6 and 11.5 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 30-July 3 for checking pavement foundation. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
KUAMOʻO ROAD (HIGHWAY 580)
WAILUA HOMESTEADS
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.1 and 4, in the vicinity of ʻOhana Street and Hawaiiana Street, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 29-July 4 for striping and marker installation.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 1 and 2.5, in the vicinity of Māla Street, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 30-July 3 for cutting grass.
