Postal Service is hosting open houses in Kauaʻi this month
The U.S. Postal Service is searching for people to fill open positions in Kauaʻi with two events planned this month.
The community will have the opportunity to learn about assistant rural carrier and rural carrier associate positions currently available at facilities in Kauaʻi with two open house events in Līhuʻe.
Postmasters and supervisors will be available to answer questions and help candidates apply for open positions during the Līhuʻe Night Market on Kress Street from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, and then again at the Līhuʻe Carrier Annex, 3230 Kapule Hwy., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17.
Overseen by a bipartisan board of governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, “Delivering for America“, to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.
Part of that transformation is changing the careers at the Postal Service. There are a variety of positions, training, and advancement meant to maximize the skills and interests of its employees as well as an emphasis on career opportunities for veterans.
Assistant rural carrier and rural carrier associate salaries start at $20.38 per hour, and driving for these positions is required. Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger.
The driving must have taken place in the United States, its possessions or territories, or in U.S. military installations worldwide.
