DMV to launch electronic road test booking system

Kaua‘i County Division of Motor Vehicles is launching an electronic road test booking system May 15, allowing Garden Isle residents to book driving road tests easily online rather than having to call the division.

“We are proud to continue to work towards making our county’s services as easy and accessible as possible to the public,” said Kaua‘i County Mayor Derek Kawakami, “we know that booking a road test is stressful enough so we’re working on making at least the process easier.”

Visit the Division of Motor Vehicles website and click on “Book Your DMV Appointment” to book a road test. For appointment type, select “Driver’s Licenses.”

Then click the appropriate road test option for your desired license:

  • TYPE 3 for motor vehicles.
  • TYPE 2 for motorcycles.

Follow the same steps to book your CDL/TYPE 4, box truck, road test, only for appointment type select “CDLs.” Then click the appropriate road test option for your desired license: type 4 for box trucks or CDL road test.

Once you make your selection, fill out the booking information, process your payment and complete your booking.

The division office is open Monday to Friday, except for state and federal holidays.

Walk-in customers are served as time permits only at the Līhu‘e location. Therefore, appointments are highly encouraged to avoid long wait times.

The Kapa‘a satellite office is by appointment only.

Kūpuna Hour — from 8 to 8:45 a.m. for customers age 65 years and older, with no appointments necessary — is only available at the Līhu‘e office.
