Water conservation request continues for some North Shore areas until further notice
A water conservation request originally issued now 5 weeks ago — at the beginning of April — remains in effect until further notice for Kauaʻi County Department of Water customers in two North Shore communities.
Customers in Hanalei and the ʻAnini Beach areas are asked to continue water conservation efforts to maintain water services and avoid a full water service outage.
Water conservation measures include:
- Turning off appliances and fixtures that automatically draw water such as ice machines and irrigation systems.
- Refraining from car washing.
Weekly notices will continue to be provided via the Wireless Emergency Notification System, Kauaʻi County’s emergency notification system. Visit the Kauaʻi Emergency Management website and click “Notification Services” to sign up to receive those notifications and more.
You can monitor service updates online here.
Call the Department of Water at 808-245-5455 for additional information.
“[The Department of Water] thanks customers for their continued conservation efforts and cooperation,” the department said in its most recent conservation notice update. “An update will be provided when the conservation request has been lifted.”
Officials originally issued the conservation request April 4 after amechanical failure caused the pump station serving the Hanalei and ‘Anini areas to go down, affecting the water storage supply.
