Repair work on one-lane Kīpū Bridge to further reduce lane width
Kaua‘i County Department of Public Works and contractor Kaikor Construction Group notify the public that construction related to upcoming repairs on Kīpū Bridge will reduce its lane width.

Work on the Kīpū Road bridge is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays, not including holidays, May 12-Nov. 1, weather permitting.
The bridge’s already one-lane travel way will be maintained; however, the repair work will further reduce the width of the lane.
Motorists should make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the reduction in lane width, use alternate routes and allow extra time to get to their destinations while repairs are ongoing.
Kīpū Bridge also has a weight limit of 5 tons. Trucks in excess of the weight limit should not cross the bridge to reduce further damage to the structure.
Improvement will cost $1.9 million and include repairing spalled concrete on the bridge’s abutments, piers and deck; applying a new asphalt overlay; and installing guardrails at both ends of the bridge, along with other necessary repairs.
The bridge’s historical appearance will be preserved, and the project budget is shared with repair work on the Kōloa Bridge.
