Residents in two areas along Kauaʻi’s North Shore are still being asked to limit their water use to essential needs only in an effort to avoid a full water service outage.

The request from Kauaʻi County Department of Water officials is now in its third week for water customers in Hanalei and ʻAnini Beach.

It was originally issued after a mechanical failure at a pump station April 4 affected the storage supply of the county water system in the area.

Water Department Officials are working vigorously to get the necessary contractor services and equipment to perform the emergency repairs.

Water conservation measures include:

  • Turning off appliances and fixtures that automatically draw water.
  • Refraining from activities such as washing vehicles.

Notices about water conservation requests and repair updates will continue to be issued weekly by the Water Department via the Wireless Emergency Notification System, the county’s emergency notification system.
