Junior Police Academy is an immersive 5-day summer program that provides students in grades 9-12 with a hands-on introduction to the world of public safety, blending interactive classroom sessions with practical activities to give participants a comprehensive understanding of police operations.

Students explore key topics such as the criminal justice system, crime scene investigations, evidence collection, forensic science, firearms safety, first aid, physical fitness and active shooter response training.

“Beyond learning about public safety, participants will also cultivate life skills in areas like leadership, communication and teamwork,” said Kaua‘i Police Department Deputy Chief Mark Ozaki. “Our goal is to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders while giving them valuable insights into the important work our officers, dispatchers and professional staff do every day.”

Registration is now open and must be completed by May 9. The online registration form can be found here.

Space is limited, and selected applicants will be notified following a review process.
