New flood advisory issued as heavy rain moves back over Kaua‘i
Heavy rain is once again deluging Kaua‘i, causing forecasters at the National Weather Service in Honolulu to issue a new flood advisory for the island in effect until 6:15 p.m. today.
Radar indicated at 3:08 p.m. that rain was falling at rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour, particularly across an area south of Mount Waiʻaleʻale, causing flooding on roads and in poor drainage areas and streams.
Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected to move over south and east slopes during the next hour.
The public is once again advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
