National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu have issued a high surf advisory until 6 a.m. Saturday for north and west shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau as a west-northwest swell is expected to peak tonight at advisory thresholds.
Large breaking waves of 12 to 16 feet will combine with strong currents to make swimming and other ocean activities dangerous for oceangoers in the advisory areas.
Members of the public who plan to spend time along the north and west shores should heed all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don’t go out.
