Kaua‘i County Housing Agency in partnership with Kaua‘i Housing Development Corporation announced Feb. 27 that the first completed sales of single-family homes at Lima Ola, an affordable workforce housing development in ‘Ele‘ele.

Four families are now moving in or already have moved in to 3-bedroom homes.

Lima Ola is a Kaua‘i County master planned community with about 550 new affordable single-family homes and multi-family rental units.

The first phase of the 38 homes is to be developed during the next 18 months. More 2- and 3-bedroom homes will become available throughout the year, expanding access to affordable housing on Kaua‘i.

“Housing is among our top priorities for our administration and community, especially for our residents on west Kaua‘i,” said Kaua‘i County Mayor Derek Kawakami. “Mahalo to the combined efforts of the [Kaua‘i County Housing Agency], [Kaua‘i Housing Development Corporation] and all our partners for making the dream of having a home in ‘Ele‘ele a reality for our local families.”

The Lima Ola housing development is the county’s largest affordable housing project.

Eligibility for home ownership is dependent on a buyer completing the county’s homebuyer program requirements.

“This milestone brings relief and joy for families who have been waiting a long time for a home,” said Kaua‘i Housing Development Corporation Executive Director Andy Friend.

Contact the county Housing Agency at 808-241-4444 or visit the homebuyer program website for additional information.
