High surf advisory through Wednesday for north, west shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau
A large northwest swell will build tonight and peak early Wednesday before declining that night.
The National Weather Service forecast office in Honolulu issued a high surf advisory through 6 p.m. Wednesday for the north and west shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau because of the swell, which is expected to bring breakers of 15 to 20 feet to northern shorelines of both islands and 8 to 12 feet along western shorelines.
Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming and other ocean activities dangerous along shores in the advisory areas.
Forecasters urge the public to heed all advice from ocean safety officials.
When in doubt, don’t go out.
