High surf advisory issued for Kauaʻi, Niʻihau beginning Tuesday morning
Another high surf advisory has been issued for Kauaʻi and Niʻihau with a series of large, long period northwest swells advancing through the area through the mid-week.
National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu issued a high surf advisory for north and west shores of Kaua‘i, Ni‘ihau, Oʻahu and Molokai as well as the north facing shores of Maui.
The advisory goes into effect at 6 a.m. Tuesday and runs through Wednesday night with breaking waves of 15 to 20 feet expected along the northern shorelines and 10 to 14 feet along the western coastlines of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.
Moderate impacts are anticipated from the next and newest round of advisory level surf, with strong breaking waves and strong currents making swimming and other ocean activities dangerous.
Forecasters again urge the public to heed all advice from ocean safety officials and when in doubt, don’t go out.
