Kaua‘i County lane closures, meetings and more for week of Feb. 9-15
Here’s a look at upcoming lane closures, community meetings and other news from around Kaua’i County for this week.
Motorists are urged to make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary lane closures in the communities where they are scheduled. Alternate routes also should be considered. Allow extra time to get to your destinations if you must commute through the lane closure areas.
Lane closures scheduled in Līhuʻe

Lane closures are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays only, from Feb. 13-21 along portions of Haleko Road in Līhuʻe, weather permitting, for crews to perform guardrail repair and installation work.
No parking will be allowed in the work zone. Flaggers will be directing traffic.

Community meeting for Waimea tennis court project

The community is invited at 6 p.m. Feb. 12 to a meeting about the renovation of tennis courts at the Waimea Neighborhood Center. The project is anticipated to begin March 3 and be completed by the end of January 2026, weather permitting.
The $3.2 million project includes resurfacing tennis courts; replacing tennis posts/nets, tennis court lights, chain-link fence and windscreens; as well as repairing portions of the rock wall of the tennis court and the rock wall around the park.
Two courts will be dedicated to tennis while the other two will be dual use for tennis and pickleball.

Lane closures scheduled in Kekaha

A one-lane closure is scheduled on Kekaha Road between Manu Road and Kaumuali‘i Highway, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 10-14, weather permitting, for road resurfacing work. Area residents will be allowed partial access through the closure.
No parking will be allowed in the work zone. Flaggers will be directing traffic.

24-hour lane closure on Kūhiō Highway in Waikoko

A 24-hour, 7 day a week single-lane closure is scheduled on Kūhiō Highway (Highway 560) between the Waikoko Bridge and Lumahaʻi Trailhead, near mile post 4.7, beginning Feb. 11 for work to stabilize the hill at the Waikoko slope.
Work is expected to last for 6 to 8 months, depending on soil conditions of the slope.
Traffic signals will be posted on both sides of the closure. Flaggers will be at the site for the first 24 hours to assure signals are working properly.
Work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The speed limit through the work area will be 25 mph. Electronic sign boards are in place to notify drivers about the closure.
Salvation Army ARC monthly donation event

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center will be at the Kaua‘i Resource Center, located at 3460 Ahukini Road, in Līhu‘e from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 14.
Residents, businesses and other organizations can bring unwanted or unneeded items for reuse, including clothing, small furniture, children’s toys, books and shoes. Clothing and textiles do not need to be in good condition; torn or stained clothing is OK.
Do not bring eWaste, chemicals, appliances or broken items.
The public is asked to remain in their vehicles while at the collection site because of health and safety concerns, heavy equipment in the area and to reduce the risk of injury to customers unloading heavy items.

Second installment of real property tax due

Kaua‘i property owners are reminded their second installment of real property taxes for fiscal year 2024-25 tax year is due Feb. 20. Bills were mailed Jan. 17.
If you have not received your bill, call the Kaua‘i County Real Property Tax Collections Section at 808-241-4272 or email to rpc@kauai.gov.
Payments can be made online, by mail, in person or at the drop box located outside the Kapulē Building at the Līhu‘e Civic Center. Make checks payable to the director of Finance. Real Property Tax Collections Section office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Failure to pay real property taxes in full by Feb. 20 will result in a 10% penalty as well as 1% interest per month.
