Lion dance performances slated to welcome Year of the Snake on Kaua‘i
Kung hei fat choi, Kaua‘i!
Saam Fu Chinese Cultural Arts of Honolulu is coming to the Garden Isle this week to continue celebrating Chinese New Year with traditional lion dances at several venues.
So before the Big Game on Sunday between the Eagles and Chiefs, come ring in the Year of the Snake with the team of lions for good fortune in the new year.
And don’t forget to bring your red envelopes to feed the lion!
Here is the schedule of lion dance performances on Kaua‘i:
Friday, Feb. 7
- 11 a.m.: Princeville Center, 5-4280 Kūhiō Highway, Princeville.
- 3 p.m.: Walmart, 3-3300 Kūhiō Hwy, Līhuʻe.
- 4 p.m.: Hale Līhuʻe, 4286 Rice St., Līhuʻe.
- 6 p.m.: Hanapēpē Art Night, starting at Far Fetched and moving to west end of town, Hanapēpē.
Saturday, Feb. 8
- 9:15 to 9:45 a.m.: Kaua’i Museum, Kaumualiʻi Highway, Suite 1710, Līhuʻe.
- 11 a.m.: Kukui Grove Center, 4428 Rice St., Līhuʻe.
“Come join us as we wrap up our busy Chinese New Year performance season on the Garden Isle,” said Saam Fu Chinese Cultural Arts in its announcement of the lion dance schedule.
