23-year-old man killed after losing control of motorcyle, crashing in Līhu‘e
A 23-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash Jan. 26 on Kaumuali‘i Highway in Līhu‘e.
Kaua‘i Police Department reports the man was operating a 2008 Honda motorcycle at about 11 p.m. Sunday, traveling eastbound near Ho‘omana Road, when the he lost control and crashed.
First responders arrived to find good Samaritans performiing emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, on the rider.
The 23-year-old man, who had no permanent address, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was transported to Wilcox Medical Center in Līhu‘e, where he was pronounced dead.
Kaumuali‘i Highway was closed in both directions for about 2 hours while the Kauaʽi Police Department Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation.
Speed and weather conditions appear to be suspected factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is Kaua‘i’s first traffic fatality of 2025.
